In 2003 I found out I was going to have a baby. Well, not a baby, an 8 year old actually. I was holding the DNA test in my hand as I tried explaining this to my wife of three years. This wasn’t the easiest thing to hear but she took it well. We spent a few weeks getting to know my new daughter Jazmen and then she was taken me from and I didn’t see her again until she was 19 years old.
Although Jazmen was a strong student she told me many stories about growing up with little support and how she approached life during and after high school. I thought, wouldn’t it be great for students like her who persevered and had the desire to turn their life around in high school?
The Jazney (the combined name of Jazmen and her best friend Courney) grant is for high school seniors who have improved themselves personally and academically. We would like to award at least two $500 grants for the 2019/2020 school year. If you would like to donate to our cause please use the link below.
If you are a teacher, faculty, administrator, or parent who would like to nominate a student, please e-mail me to request a submission form.
